Interior Design — Lisbon
Walnut, Velvet
& Plasterwork
Layered interiors where mid-century chrome meets classical European architecture — travertine, herringbone parquet, and storied objects curated from a life lived across continents.

The Founder
Taiba KhanCPA, Interior Designer
Born in India, shaped by the world. With over 15 years as a Chartered Public Accountant, Taiba Khan cultivated a precision of mind and an eye for structure that would later become the foundation of her design philosophy.
Her journey across continents — through the ornate palaces of Rajasthan, the flea markets of Paris, the woven-ceiling riads of Marrakech, and the mid-century showrooms of Copenhagen — instilled a rare sensibility: the understanding that a Wassily chair belongs beneath ornate plasterwork, and that a travertine slab can anchor a room of velvet and walnut.
Now based in Lisbon, Portugal, Taiba made her acclaimed debut at B49 in Lisbon, where her installation layered herringbone parquet with hand-loomed textiles, aged brass, and floor-to-ceiling walnut shelving — earning widespread recognition and marking her transition from numbers to narratives.

Our Approach
Design Philosophy
We believe the most compelling spaces are layered, not decorated — where chrome catches light against walnut panelling, velvet softens stone, and every object has earned its place over years of collecting.
Material Honesty
Travertine, walnut, honed marble, hand-loomed wool — we choose materials that age with grace. Every surface has a story, every patina a purpose.
Classical Meets Modern
A Wassily chair beneath ornate plasterwork. A Camaleonda sofa on herringbone parquet. We live for the tension between heritage architecture and mid-century design.
Collected, Not Decorated
Rooms should feel lived in — bookshelves filled with well-read spines, art in ornate gilt frames, objects from souks and flea markets, curated over a lifetime.
Rooted in Lisbon
Classical European plasterwork, cobbled courtyards, azulejo light — Lisbon is a city built on layering eras, and that spirit runs through every project we touch.
Selected Works
Portfolio
Walnut joinery, velvet upholstery, travertine surfaces, and classical architecture — a selection of spaces where material and memory converge.
Casa da Luz
Floor-to-ceiling walnut shelving frames an oxblood velvet Camaleonda, while herringbone parquet grounds a travertine coffee table and brass picture lights cast warmth across collected art.
The Silk Room
A boutique hotel lounge beneath ornate plasterwork ceilings — sage velvet seating, honed marble surfaces, chrome cantilever chairs, and Akari paper lanterns in amber glow.
Atelier Monsoon
A creative studio wrapped in teak panelling and open shelving — Wassily chairs, woven rugs, and curated objects sit beneath warm pendant lighting.
B49 Installation
The acclaimed debut — five rooms exploring material and memory: burl wood plinths, aged brass sconces, hand-loomed wool, and a single thread of light uniting travertine and dark timber.
